Product Tips

Hair

Which shampoo and conditioner is right for me?

Shampoo: Focus on the needs of your scalp. Conditioner: Focus on the needs of your hair, primarily the mid-shaft and ends.

Address your primary concern. Clients always assume that if they have colored hair then they must use color-protecting products. But that is not always the case. Color-protecting shampoos have a lower pH so they may not be cleansing enough for oilier hair. If you have compromised hair that has been over-processed, then always address that first. Healthy hair is most important.

How do I get a good lather from my shampoo?

Hair should be fully saturated with water before applying shampoo. You can also mix water and shampoo in your hand before applying to hair.

How much product should I use for my hair type?

Money Matters: A good rule of thumb for styling product amounts is to use the size of a half dollar for dense/coarse hair, a quarter for average/medium hair, and a nickel for fine hair.

How often can I use a Blonde Brightening shampoo?

Sachajuan's Silver Shampoo and Conditioner can be used everyday. Focus on the parts of your hair that need it the most. For example, if your ends are looking too golden, use only on the ends.

How often should I shampoo?

We recommend shampooing your hair every other day. If you wait too long in between shampoos, your hair is not getting the conditioning it needs and may become dry.

Skincare

What is my skin type?

Normal: Even and balanced; neither oily nor dry
Oily: Feels greasy all over; large pores
Dry: Tight, flaky all over
Combination: Oily with larger pores in T-Zone (forehead, nose, and chin); dry and tight everywhere else.
Sensitive: Redness, itchy, stings with certain products

Do I really need a toner?

Yes. Toners help balance out the pH level in your skin, removes excess dirt and oil, and minimizes pores. Trust us, you want to use a toner.

How often should I exfoliate?

Exfoliating 2-3 times a week is sufficient. Less if you have sensitive skin. Anything more than that can irritate the skin.

Do you apply a serum before or after a moisturizer?

Before. Cleanse, tone, apply serum, then moisturizer. If you apply afterwards, the thickness of the moisturizers will prevent the serum from penetrating the skin.

What is the difference between a serum and a moisturizer?

Serums have moisturizing benefits but that is not their primary purpose. They have the highest level of active ingredients and penetrate deeper into the skin. Moisturizers lock in moisture and create a barrier on top of the skin.

Bath & Body

Can I interchange my face, body, and hand lotion?

Not a great idea. Each type of lotion addresses the different types of skin.
Facial moisturizers are created for the face's thinner and more delicate skin.
Hand creams have more oils to replenish what we strip away from washing.
Body Creams only address dryness and dehydration.

What should I do before trying a self tanner for the first time?

We recommend carrying out a patch test 24 hours prior to applying any tanning product for the first time. Apply a small amount of the self tan behind the ear and leave for 24 hours. Although DHA allergies are extremely rare, if any contra-actions occur such as redness, swelling or itching, avoid using the self tan and seek medical advice if it continues. If no reaction occurs then it is fine to proceed with a full body application.

How can I get a perfect self-tan finish on my hands and feet?

To get perfect ‘beach feet’ and natural looking hands, tan these areas last, using only the residue of product left on your tanning mitt. Only tan the top of your feet and hands (imagine where the sun would hit on the beach). Then use a dry cloth to buff the edges of your hands and feet to blend the tan into the non-tanned areas.

Lifestyle

How do I care for my candle?

Store candle in a cool dry place. We recommend lighting your candles for 3 hours the first time to ensure an even burning candle. Trim wick to 1/8" before each burn.

Can I use aromatherapy roll-ons if I am pregnant?

If pregnant, nursing, suffering from a medical condition or taking medication, consult a physician before using.
